Vanessa Johnson Thomas

Vanessa Johnson Thomas, age 71 of Hammond, Indiana passed away June 22, 2026 in Munster, Indiana. She was born to Clarence J. and Lillian (née Daniels) Johnson on May 5, 1955 in Gary, Indiana.

Vanessa was a proud college graduate and was extremely talented at drawing and writing poetry and short stories.

Vanessa was amazingly thoughtful, honest and a truly beautiful person. She cared deeply about her loved ones and friends, and it showed with every action she took. Vanessa loved her grandchildren immensely.

Vanessa is survived by her loving sons and daughters: Trey Thomas, Breonna Thomas, Raven Thomas and Brenesha Thomas; cherished grandchildren: Paeden Robinson, Gabriella Robinson, Mariah Caldwell, Marionna Caldwell, Melanie Caldwell, Miley Caldwell, Idreik Thomas, Marlo Spivey; dear sister Elizabeth Smith.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life on Sunday, July 19, 2026 at Castle Hill Funeral Home: 1219 Sheffield Avenue, Dyer, Indiana 46311 with a Memorial Service from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m.
