Our beloved Richard Louis Janusz died on Monday, June 28, 2021. While his death was unexpected, Rich suffered from diabetes for 41 years. We feared daily this terrible disease would claim his life. We are grateful that when Rich passed, he was with his family.
Rich was born on September 17, 1963, in Portland, Oregon. He was adopted when he was 1 day old and grew up in Hegewisch, Chicago, IL, while living the last 16 years of his life in Dyer, IN. Most of Rich’s oldest friends knew him as “Rich” while for some reason, he decided to be known as “Rick” in the 1990s.
Rich is survived by his wife, Sharon; sons, Zachary and Ryan; daughter, Samantha; mother-in-law, Molly Ramirez; sisters-in-law, Diana Garibay, Christine Torres, and Rosanna Slobodnik; brothers-in-law, Jerry Garibay and Wilfred Ramirez Jr.; and numerous, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased in death by his parents, Rudy and Evelyn Janusz, who were married on June 28th, the day Rich passed.
Please join us for a memorial service honoring Rich’s life on Monday, July 5th, from 2:00 – 6:00, at Castle Hill Funeral Home, 1219 Sheffield Ave., Dyer, IN.
We take comfort in knowing that Rich is surrounded by light, free from the struggle that haunted him. Our grief over losing him is infinite and we pray for a cure for Diabetes.
