Richard Alan Carlson

Richard Alan Carlson, age 75, of Dyer, IN, passed away April 19th, 2023 in Munster, IN after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Richard was born September 24, 1947 in Chicago, IL, son of Robert & Elsie Carlson. He will be lovingly remembered by surviving family:  Joan Carlson (Hein) wife of 52 years, daughter Kendra (Rob) Reuer, son Robert (Gayle) Carlson, sister Nancy (Bob) Wojcik and grandchildren- Taylor, Nicole, Amanda, Ryan, Robby and Erik. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Carlson, mother Elsie Carlson (Larson) and brother Donald Carlson.

Richard worked in the finance department of LTV Steel for 30+ years to provide for his family, retiring when the mill was sold. He always enjoyed his weekly lunch outings with old work friends, including Greg Rosen. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and kind, caring personality. Bowling was one of his favorite pastimes with his weekly bowling league team of 50+ years (John Hibbs Sr., Tom Alexander, Terry Barlage and John Hibbs Jr.). He was able to claim a couple perfect 300 games and an 800 series along the way. He loved his “Me TV” station and was always on the lookout for that good sale. More than anything, he always loved being around his grandkids. Richard will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
