Larry Earl Griffin Obituary

Larry Earl Griffin, Born December 18th 1947, of Chicago, Illinois passed away unexpectedly on December 27th 2020. Larry Graduated from DuSable High School and attended Roosevelt University. Larry also served in the United States Army for two years with Private First Class ranking. A man of nature and taking in the present moment, he enjoyed long walks and outdoor sports such as football and baseball. Larry gave his life to Christ at Straightway Evangelist Church in 1984 and later attended St. Luke Church of God and Christ and Family Christian Center. A lover of jazz, a good laugh, and creativity, Larry was always thinking of ways to enrich himself and his loved ones.

Though not always a man of many words he would leave us with gems that we would like to share with you:

“Write out your goals, no matter how big they are. Once you write them down you will see they are achievable.”

“You can’t worry about the future as it has not gotten here yet. You can’t worry about the past as it’s already behind you. Take in today and live for today, because in the end that's all you have.”

Larry’s life was a gift from God. Our children, family, friends, neighbors, and strangers are all gifts to be savored and we must remember that. Although some days may be full of hardship and sadness, each breath, heartbeat, and thought illustrates the beautiful gift of life. Keep the positive memories of Larry alive and thank God for the blessings that we were able to share with him. May God strengthen our present and guide our hearts for the future. My prayers are with my children and Larry’s family. - Love Fabia

Aside from being survived by his mother Lillian Hendrix and Stepfather Charles Hendrix, he is also survived by his son Matthew Lawrence Griffin, daughter Moriah and Son-in Law Donald Warren, brother Horace Tate, sister Jean and brother-in-law Michael Armor, son Steven Styles two grand-daughters Hope and Faith Styles along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
