Heaven gained a tinkerer on October 5, 2021, when Julius Baum, 84, of Tinley Park, IL, went peacefully to the light.
Julius was born to Eduard and Alide Baum on August 25, 1937 in Neudorf, Poland. During the war, his family moved west and eventually arrived in Altenmedingen, Germany, where Julius rang the bells of his church as a youth. He and his family left das Vaterland in May 1958, arrived in the U.S. in June, and settled in Chicago Heights, IL.
Beloved brother of John (Gertrude), Ida Buetow (Hugo), and Renate Schmidt (Herbert). Preceded in death by his parents, brothers Helmut and Rudolph (Hildegard), and sisters Helene Wilcox (late William E., Jr.) and Gisela Radosavljevic (Marko). While he never married or had children, he will be missed by an abundance of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Julius had a 40+-year career at Panduit as a machinist. He had a hard time sitting still and taking it easy. He loved to keep busy and find things to do, to watch Fußball (especially the World Cup, the German National Team, and the Chicago Fire), and to practice naturopathy.
The viewing will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Chicago Heights, IL, on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at 10:00 am, with service immediately following at 11:00 am. Interment at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Vollmer Road, Flossmoor, IL.
