Joseph Krystofiak

Joe Krystofiak, 47, of Cedar Lake, passed away on October 6, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

Joe was born on October 27, 1975 to his parents in Chicago, IL. He attended Bloom Trail High School in Sauk Village and was part of the graduating class of 1994.  Joe worked as a welder for Weld-Rite in Griffith, Indiana. Joe was one of the biggest Green Bay Packers and University of Michigan fans around. And he never missed an opportunity to yell “Go Pack Go” or “Go Blue” at the most random moments. Some of Joe’s favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing and golfing with family and friends.  One of Joe’s favorite places to visit was Eagle Lake in Ontario, Canada where it will become his final resting place.

Joe is survived by his loving surrogate parents Linda Poortenga and Ron (Linda) Latham; Brothers: Rob (Stacey) Poortenga, Dave (Lisa) Heber, Aaron (Sarah) Latham;  Sisters: Amanda (Matt) Waddle, Amber Poortenga, Sara (Andy) Carrell; Nieces: Isabelle, Madison, and Aubrey Poortenga, DrewAn and Charlotte Carrell, and Vivian Latham; Nephews: Bryce and Tucker Waddle, Hank Carrell, and Wallace Latham; Close Family Friends: Scott (Clelsea) Hemmerich and Ken (Angie) Kosiek

Family and friends will celebrate his life on Friday, October 27, 2023 at Doc's Smokehouse: 1420 B Calumet Avenue, Dyer, Indiana 46311 time TBD
