Janet Noreen White, age 92, a lifelong resident of Calumet City, Illinois passed away December 4, 2025 in Winfield, Indiana with her loving family at her side.

Janet was born to the late Edwin and Ida (née Anderson) Montanye on July 20, 1933 in Spokane, Washington. She is the sister of: the late Barbara (Dick) Bumgarner, Cleo (the late Paul) Ogaard of Worland, WY, twin brother Jimmy (Nita) Montanye of Port Angeles, WA, the late Ken (Lee) Montanye, the late Bob (Ruth) Montanye.

Janet married the late Robert S. White in Cour d’Alene, ID on March 5, 1954 and is the mother of: the late Linda White, the late Robert W. White, Dianna Harrigan of Lexington, SC and Nancy (Ron) Welker of Crown Point, IN. She is survived by 7 beloved grandchildren: Tori (Matt) McCaleb of Crown Point, IN, Tyler Welker of Atlanta, GA, Sheri (Matt) Dart of SC, Jacob (Chelsie) White of TN, Robert White of TN, Jessica (Barry) Loftis of TN and Danielle (John) Imbaratto of TN; and was also blessed with 16 great-grandchildren: Annabella and Macklin McCaleb of IN, Michael, Cheyenne and Nathan Coates of SC, Devin Dart of SC, Lexie and Ayden White of TN, Robert, Isaiah and Kali White of TN, Jerricka and Xavier Jobe of TN, and Chase, Addison and Eystin Owens of TN; and numerous dear nieces and nephews.

Janet retired from the Calumet City Police Department as Supervisor of Crossing Guards and from Calumet City Memorial Park as Administrative Assistant. She enjoyed crochet, cross stitch and many other crafts. Janet never missed her kids and grandkids sporting events even following them as they continued on into their coaching careers.

Family and friends will gather to honor Janet’s life on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Castle Hill Funeral Home: 1219 Sheffield Avenue, Dyer, Indiana 46311 for a visitation from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon followed by a funeral service at the funeral home. Janet will be privately laid to rest at Oakland Memory Lanes in Dolton, Illinois.
