Jim was a proud veteran of the Navy and being a "Sea-Bee", having been an exemplary sailor, rapidly moving through rank to attain the rank of Chief Petty Officer First Class before leaving the Navy to return to Hammond.

Jim was a man of many talents and interests, including being a master pipe-fitter and welder and a talented artist and painter. Jim was a self-taught accomplished guitar and keyboard player. Jim was a trailblazer embracing the home computer market in it's infancy. He designed his own games and established a software company in the nineties he dubbed J & J Gameware.

All who knew Jim appreciated his quick wit and humor and curious mind always looking to learn. Jim may have appeared big and intimidating, but those that knew him best knew his heart was the biggest part of him.
