Israel Immanuel Maldonado, 14, of Whiting, IN passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 08, 2024, in Chicago, IL. He was born in Hammond, IN to Cecilia (Alfredo) Munoz and Isaac Maldonado Sr. Israel is survived by his siblings, Alysia, Lesenia, Arriana, Isaac Jr, Angel (Alexcis), David, and Aurora, nephews Theodore, Anthony Jr, and Augustine, nieces Alicia and Arella, maternal grandmother  Yolanda Munoz, paternal grandparents Elba and Hector Maldonado, beloved aunts Jessica (Ramon) Santiago and Norma (Tom) Munoz, numerous loving cousins and step siblings, and many more family members. Israel was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Reynaldo Munoz.

Israel was known for his rambunctious persona and a voice that could be heard in even the loudest of rooms. He was undeniably the excitement in his family’s life with his free spirit and fearlessness. From a very early age, Israel was strong-willed and full of energy, and never let anyone hold him back from expressing that. He was a social butterfly and a kindred spirit that went out of his way to make people feel included and made friends with anyone and everyone- you were never alone when you were with him. 

His love for sports and being active started with playing baseball for Hammond Hermits Little League and continued with playing basketball, jumping in the lake, and riding his bike until the sun went down. As the fun Tio, he was the favorite to his nephews and nieces and would match their energy. He taught us to laugh at the little things, make life your own, spread love, and that when someone loves you, you’re never alone. He was a son, a brother, a tio, and a friend to many, many people. Israel’s infectious smile and laughter, kind heart, and adventurous spirit will forever be missed and will never ever be forgotten.

A public visitation will be held at Castle Hill Funeral Home in Dyer, IN on Friday, December 20, 2024 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the family for a memorial fund.
