Gary M. Rogers

Died: June 12, 2025 in Portage, IN

Born and raised in Minneapolis, Gary graduated from Central High School in 1965 and Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, in 1969.

Gary dedicated his professional life to uplifting others through education and advocacy. He began his career by teaching for Minneapolis Public Schools before serving as a business agent for the Minneapolis Federation of Teachers. Recognized for his fair-minded approach and negotiation skills, Gary became a labor mediator for the State of Minnesota. He later served as the director of transportation for Minneapolis Public Schools before returning to his mediation work.

Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy; his parents, Earl and Hazel; his brother, Elwin; and his sister, Gail. He is survived by his beloved children, Jason (Chris), Jared (Beth), and Kailen (Noah), and grandchildren, Kate and Ethan.

A private burial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Gary’s memory to the American Cancer Society or to your favorite charity.
