Frank Wesley Orsini, 88, late of Demotte, IN formerly of Calumet City, IL passed away surrounded by his loved ones on December 17, 2024.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Lucille Orsini and sister, Sandra Deichmueller.
Frank proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, where he demonstrated the same strength, commitment, and loyalty that he carried throughout his life. After his military service, Frank married Kathy (Palasik) Orsini and shared his life with her for 61 years.
Together, they raised three children: Frank (Joyce) Orsini, Therese (Michael) Sawicki, and Thomas (Jennifer) Orsini. His legacy continues through his seven grandchildren: Rebecca (Joseph) Mazur, Rachel (Juan) Quiroz, Joseph (Juliana) Sawicki, Frank Orsini, Raigan Orsini, Blake Orsini, and Derek Orsini, as well as two great-grandchildren, Amelia and Theodore.
Frank had a strong work ethic and worked for many years at Peter Levin Pontiac, where he was respected by his colleagues. Outside of work, Frank was a man who cherished family time. He loved taking his family on road trips, often enjoying a cold Old Style along the way. Whether on the road or camping, those adventures were among his favorite times.
He also enjoyed spending time at the Rosemoor Sports and Social Club where he could often be found fishing, a passion that brought him peace and contentment.
Frank had a knack for gardening, a hobby that not only brought him joy but gave him the opportunity to share his passion. His grandchildren will fondly remember helping him dig up potatoes (and the occasional hearing aid) from the garden.
When he wasn’t tending to his garden, he would be in his garage, watching John Wayne reruns or his beloved Chicago Cubs, which he proudly experienced winning the World Series in 2016.
Frank was known for many things, but perhaps most notably for his strong handshake. It was a trademark of his, a symbol of his character that left a lasting impression on anyone who met him. He often chuckled when he gripped someone’s hand a little too hard, always with a mischievous spark in his eye.
A memorial and celebration of life will be held for Frank on January 19th, 2025 from 2-6 p.m. at American Legion Post #330: 950 Legion Drive, Calumet City, IL 60409
