Frank Townsend Jr. was born on September 16, 1932 in Chickasaw County Mississippi to Viola Rogers Townsend and Frank Townsend Sr. He was the third youngest child of 12 siblings. Frank confessed Christ at an early age. He united in holy matrimony with Modine Cooperwood on his birthday, September 16, 1951. To this union 9 children was born. Frank was employed with Nelson Platt Construction for over 20 years.
Frank was a talented self-taught guitarist and harmonica player. He was a great singer (blues and gospel) and he shared his gifted abilities with his family and friends. He had a passion for fishing and gardening. He loved hunting, watching westerns and wild life, and sports (especially baseball).
Frank was proceeded in death by his loving Wife, Modine; his Son, Clay Jr.; his Granddaughter, Venisha Latrice; his Parents, Frank Sr. and Viola; three Sisters-- Irene, Bertha Mae, and Mablene; six Brothers-- Willie Joe, Joe Robert, Ira, Frank D., Willie Bob, and Rev. George Burkey.
On Sunday, July 12, 2020, Frank transitioned home to be with the Lord. Although his physical presence will be missed, his legacy will live on. Frank leaves to cherish his memories 5 Sons-- LC, Billy Wayne (from Minnesota); Orville Lee (Vanessa), Jimmy, Ricky (Deloris); 3 Daughters-- Elaine (Kendrick), Yvonne (David), Rachelle (John); 2 Sisters—Dollie, Lucille; a special Nephew, Bobby Johnson (all from Illinois), 5 sisters-in-laws, 3 brothers-in-laws, 15 grandchildren; 25-great-grandchildrens; 12 great-great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
