Elaine G. Sorensen, age 80, of Winter Haven, Florida passed away June 2, 2026 in Munster, Indiana. She was born to Otto and Gertrude (nee DeYoung) Kerkstra on December 15, 1945 in Blue Island, Illinois.

In 1962 she married Gerald “Jerry” G. Myers. Together they shared 29 wonderful years. After being widowed, Elaine (Myers) Kerkstra and Eugene “Gene” Sorensen reconnected a friendship and went on to enjoy 16 years of marriage together. 

She found joy in traveling, spending time with her beloved dog, Mimi, and with family and friends. Her love of adventure led her to enjoy many years as a winter snowbird before eventually making Florida her home. With a gift for creativity, she enjoyed cake decorating, crocheting, and became a skilled acrylic painter. Most of all, she will be remembered for her independent nature and caring heart. As a devoted caregiver, she was always there for others in their times of need, offering support, comfort, and compassion.

Elaine is survived by her children, Randy (Maureen) Myers, Colette Zohrer, and Michele (Kurt) Rey: also her grandchildren, Heather (Patrick) Benson, Bradley (Melissa) Zohrer, Jenna Zohrer (Zakk Vineyard), Lucas (Emily) Rey, Jennifer (Daniel) Williams, and Emily Rey (Stefan Gucinski); Great grandchildren, Trent Bensen, Dominick Bensen, Elainna Bensen, Kennedy Zohrer, Lillian Bellamy, Veronika Vineyard, Luka Vineyard, Emmett Rey, Lucille Rey, Harvey Rey, and Noa Williams.  Elaine was preceded in death by Jerry Myers and Gene Sorensen.

Funeral Services will be Monday, June 8, 2026 at Castle Hill Funeral Home: 1219 Sheffield Avenue, Dyer, Indiana 46311 with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. when a Service will be officiated at the funeral home followed by Interment Services at Skyline Memorial Park in Monee, Illinois.
