Efrain "Silver Bullet" Gonzalez, 71, passed away on January 30, 2025, in Chicago, Illinois. Born on September 27, 1953, in Donna, Texas, Efrain lived a life full of laughter, love, and cherished moments with family and friends.  

Efrain was a man who embraced life with humor and warmth. He had a natural ability to bring joy to those around him, always ready with a joke or a playful remark to lighten the mood. His fun-loving spirit made him the heart of every gathering, ensuring that no moment was ever dull in his presence.

He found great joy in hosting BBQs, where he would bring together family and friends over good food and great company. His passion for working on machines and classic cars was evident to all who knew him—he could often be found tinkering under the hood of a beloved vehicle or fine-tuning an engine with skillful hands. Another favorite pastime of his was playing football squares, adding excitement to game days with friendly competition.

Efrain's greatest pride and joy was his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Florence Gonzalez; his children: Jerome Gonzales (Jessica), Cassandra Ruiz (Carlos), Cora Rizo (Jason), and Efrain Gonzales (Liza); as well as 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren who will carry forward his legacy of love and laughter. He also leaves behind his siblings: Oscar Gonzales (Geri Paul), Rogelio Gonzales (Alicia), and Cynthia Vences (Israel). Additionally, he was a dear brother-in-law to Barbara Turner (Jim) and Mary Puszkiewicz (Jack), along with many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends who were like family to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonel and Maria Gonzales; his grandmother Norberta Singleterry; his aunt Pilar Davis; and his great-grandsons Jerome Gonzales III, Jeremiah Gonzales, and Josiah Gonzales. Their memories remain forever cherished by those who loved them.  

A memorial service will be held on March 22, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Castle Hill Funeral Home, located at 248 155th Pl., Calumet City, Illinois 60409.  

Efrain’s infectious laughter and boundless energy will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life on Saturday, March 22, 2025 for a memorial gathering from 10 AM to 2 PM at Castle Hill Funeral Home: 248 155th Place, Calumet City, Illinois.
