It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald G Smith, a beloved husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, and great-grandfather on December 29, 2024 at the age of 84. Don (Smitty) was a cherished member of our family and known for his kindness, generosity, easy going manner, and humor.

Don was born on the 4th of July in 1940 in Mishawaka, IN. He lived in northern Indiana his entire life and worked for Bethlehem Steel for 30 years.  He enjoyed family, his pets, traveling, gardening, entertainment, a good steak, a cold beer, an old movie, and a good laugh.

He was the loving father of two children: daughter Barbara Minges (Smith), preceded in death by his daughter Christine Jensen (Smith), and the devoted stepfather to three children: Cindy Marsee, Holly Paplomatas and Chris Van Norman. Don was also the proud grandfather to nine grandchildren:  Justin, Amanda, Eric, Cody, Cory, Nolan, Colin, Lucas, and Keegan.  

Don is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Gloria as well as his daughter, stepchildren, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
