Diane Burgin (nee Shurn)

Diane was the 2nd eldest child born on July 08, 1958 to the proud parents of L. C. and Bernice Shurn. Diane had a brief fight with a sudden illness that sent her to start her heavenly life. She had recommitted her life to Jesus Christ and was at peace with her transition. Diane attended Copernicus Elementary and graduated from Gage Park High School. She furthered her education in the nursing field. She was a dedicated nurse assistant where she loved helping and caring for people. She had a precious, kind, and loving heart for the love she showed to others, family, and friends.

During her time finding her path in life; she was blessed with a husband. She married Raymond Leroy Burgin on July 05, 1990 in Chicago, IL. While married to Raymond they were blessed with a daughter, April T. Burgin, in 1997. Her family moved to Overland Park, KS while her daughter was young. They wanted their daughter to have a relationship with both sides of her family. Diane and her daughter chose to move back to Chicago, IL in 2008 after the death of her husband, Raymond in 2004.

Diane was preceded in death by her loving and caring husband, Raymond Leroy Burgin; her grandparents, Herman and Mary Morgan; her parents, L.C. Shurn and Bernice Stewart; and her 2nd parents, Melvin and Judy Harris. She leaves several loved ones to cherish for memories: her daughter, April T. Burgin; her loving dog, Shabooky; her three sisters, Maria Short (Michael), Sherry Shurn, and Karen Childs (Griffin); and two brothers, Jerome Watkins (Joyce), and Albert Watkins (Rose). She also leaves a special friend, Davis Frank Arna, that she spent her recent lifetime with. She leaves several uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, and an abundance of cousins. Who all will forever cherish the precious memories made with Diane.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Castle Hill Funeral Home: 248 – 155th Place, Calumet City, IL 60409 with a Memorial Service from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
