Darlene was known for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering dedication to her community. Her infectious enthusiasm inspired countless friends and family members, leaving a lasting legacy of kindness and service. Dar was a lifelong member of Lansing Presbyterian Church. She helped her husband build “Construction by Smoky,” which they operated for over 20 years. She was actively involved in the Girl Scouts of America for more than 30 years, affectionately known by her camp name “Pickles.” Darlene’s leadership and creativity enriched the Girl Scouts, where she organized memorable camping trips and encouraged young girls to grow in confidence. She was an avid gardener, line dancer, and volunteer, and her contributions to organizations like the Lansing Junior Women’s Club, LARC, Loyal Order of the Moose, Camp Quality, and Hearts in Motion left a lasting impression. Dar and her husband owned a tipi for over 25 years, traveling as blanket traders and setting up at volunteer events to educate and entertain, often bringing smiles to those they met. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer’s Foundation would be appreciated.
