Charmaine Jean “Sherry” Simmons nee Kubisz. Born May 31st, 1945. Raised in Hammond, In. Graduated from Purdue University in Lafayette, In. Taught at Gavit High School. Wrote for The Lansing Journal. Had her own radio show on WLNR. Housewives would tune in to hear helpful hints. She even had her own cookbook,
August 9, 1969 she married the love of her life Kenneth J. Simmons. In February of 1976 they adopted their son Kenneth A. Simmons. After adopting their son she became a dedicated housewife and mother. Neither of them went without, she was always there in any way shape or form.
In the fall of 1992 Sherry was introduced to the woman who would become the love of her son’s life and future daughter in law. July 21, 2001 her son married Tracy Oppenhuis.
Tracy and Sherry would become life long friends. The trips they took were phenomenal. Moments they both remember with great fondness.
Christmas was Sherry’s favorite time of the year. The holiday parties that were had were celebrated to the hilt.
Sherry is survived by her husband Kenneth J., her son Kenneth A., her daughter in law Tracy, her brother Dr. John Bennet Kubisz. Private services will be held in the future.
