Belinda Ann Skarwecki (nee Smith) Obituary

Belinda Ann Skarwecki (nee Smith), age 67, of Calumet City, Illinois passed away July 10, 2025 in Munster, Indiana, having bravely fought lung and brain cancer. Belinda was the daughter of Earl and Betty Smith who survive and the beloved wife of Marvin for over 44 years. Belinda and Marvin were high school sweethearts, and she admitted she pursued him. Belinda was a sister-in-law and best friend to Karen Skarwecki (Neal Tierney), she was Aunt B. to many nieces and nephews, and great-aunt to Tyler, Austin, Theodore and Amelia. Belinda was blessed with a lifetime of loving friends, including Thomas (late) and Donna Maszinski, her cherished caretakers Chuck Jr. and Hunter Klimek, and she was a fabulous Mom to Nicki and Kitty.

While still in high school, Belinda worked for DirectBuy as an assistant to the company’s bookkeeping department in Calumet City and then as their bookkeeper in Tinley Park for over 35 years. She said “Numbers don’t lie. As a bookkeeper, the numbers must always add up.”

Belinda and Marvin travelled to many exotic islands, but her favorite vacation location was Lake Conway, Arkansas, to visit her parents. She enjoyed fishing, sitting in the sun, the color purple, and watching the Chicago Bears proudly wearing her jersey for each game.

Belinda was always kind with a beautiful smile and laugh, and generous of her time to her family and friends. Belinda has left an incredible legacy with her love for Marvin, her parents, family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life on Friday, July 18, 2025 at Castle Hill Funeral Home: 248 155th Place, Calumet City, Illinois 60409 with a visitation from 4-8 p.m.
