Audrey S. Bautista, age 88, of Calumet City, Illinois passed away November 12, 2024 in Merrillville, Indiana. She was born to Leo and Genevieve (nee Maranto) Sacco on September 17, 1936 in Hammond, Indiana.
Audrey is survived by her loving sons, Richard and Randall (Debra); adored grandchildren: Nichol, Rosetta and Leonardo; and numerous dear cousins. Audrey was preceded in death by her beloved husband Rudolph.
A long time Calumet City resident, Audrey was a 1954 graduate of T.F. North High School and a 1958 graduate of the University of Illinois with a bachelor’s degree in English. After graduation, she began as an elementary school teacher before embarking on a career as a reporter with the Hammond Times and Compass newspaper. Audrey eventually retired as an administrator at her alma mater T.F. North High School.
Audrey enjoyed traveling throughout the world especially visiting relatives in Sicily, California, and Arizona in addition to her frequent trips to Las Vegas Nevada, Gatlinburg Tennessee and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Audrey was a die-hard Cubs fan maintaining her devotion even throughout the “tough” years and was always willing to attend a game.
Audrey’s quick wit and contagious sense of humor will leave an impression on those who knew her as she was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Family and friends will celebrate her life on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Castle Hill Funeral Home: 248 155th Place, Calumet City, Illinois 60409 with a visitation from 9:00-10:45 a.m. followed by an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Andrew the Apostle Church and Interment Services at Holy Cross Cemetery.
