Anne Mary Nelson (Clarke) passed away on April 7, 2026 in Dyer, Indiana.

Anne was born on January 8, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from the former Elizabeth Seton High School in 1968. She went on to work at Lagestee Insurance for 20 years and then went on to become a teacher until she retired. Over the years, she played her part in a handful of recreational bowling leagues and softball teams. She had a love for genealogy, where she put family trees together for dozens of people, and for Ireland, of which she visited many times throughout her life. In recent years, she volunteered as an ESL teacher through the local library.

Anne is preceded in death by her parents John and Mary Aileen (Hayes) Clarke. She is survived by her long-term partner William “Groucho” O’Donnell; sister, Martina Clarke; daughter, Christina (Schleyer) Hammermeister, and husband, Don; grandchildren, Megan (David), Colin (Angela), Emily, and Gwynn; pets, Buddy and Jazzy; and numerous friends and extended family.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026 from 3-7 p.m. at Castle Hill Funeral Home: 1219 Sheffield Avenue, Dyer, Indiana 46311. She will be buried the following day at 10:00 a.m. directly at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Evergreen Park, Illinois.
