It is with immense sadness we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who is already truly missed.
Velda "Val" Sasewich (nee Dudleston) entered the Kingdom of God on September 4, 2019 and is together again with her husband of over 50 years, Henry T. Sasewich. Born in Hammond, Indiana, Val is the daughter of Ernest and Mary Dudleston, sister of Roy Dudleston and Harriet Tornabene who have all preceded her in death. Val is survived by her children: Michael, Marie and Nanci; grandsons: Eric and Kevin; great-granddaughter Makayla Marie, who made life very special and full of joy and happiness each and every day.
Val was a 1944 graduate of Hammond Tech High School. During World War II she worked at the Defense Plant in Hegewisch, IL. She worked for Lansing School District 158, having retired after serving the district for several years. Val enjoyed volunteering after retirement for District 158, Village of Lansing Court and St. Margaret Hospital of Hammond, IN in the emergency room which was her passion. She attended St Ann Parish and was a resident of Lansing, IL for over 50 years. She was a past member of Lansing Jr. Women's Club and Coolidge School PTA. It is a great consolation to Val's family that she has been reunited with family and friends that have gone before her, especially the love of her life, Henry T., forever together again. As a lifelong Cub fan, Val will now have the best seat in the house for all games.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at Castle Hill Funeral Home: 248 155th Place, Calumet City, IL 60409 with a visitation from 10-11:00 am followed by a service officiated by dear family friend Father Fred Pesek in accordance with Val’s wishes.
