Robert Allen Swisher “Rudy”

Robert Allen Swisher "Rudy", age 77, passed away of natural causes surrounded by family and friends. Bob was born January 22, 1941 to Margaret and Frank Swisher. He was a dedicated Altar Boy at St. Andrew’s Church. In 1954 he was Most Valuable Football Player, in 1956 he played baseball for Calumet City Babe Ruth and he graduated Class of 1958 TFN High School. He worked for several steel mills to provide for his family. He loved to spend time at Lincoln Field with his family, friends and dogs and enjoyed fishing, writing poems and songs and traveled to Acapulco several times with his pen pal. Bob loved his children very much and cherished all his pets. 

He is survived by his beloved friend and caregiver of 20 years Sherry Fanelli; his beloved German Shepherd Heinie; loving children: Joseph (Debbie) Swisher, Theresa Gerlach, John Swisher, Lorena Prokopos, Kimberly (Doug) Dabis, and Erich (Carissa) Swisher; 17 cherished grandchildren; 9 precious great-grandchildren; dear siblings: Jerry Swisher, Mark Swisher, Steve Swisher, Patricia Swisher, Elizabeth Brejcha, Mary Swisher and Judy Swisher; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his father Frank Swisher, mother Margaret Swisher, brother Edward Swisher, and beloved son Rudolph August Swisher.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life at a Memorial Mass on Friday, August 10, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. Ann Church: 3010 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois 60438.
