Mary Ann Shomer, resident of Lynwood, formerly of Lansing, died Saturday, Sept. 14, at Munster Community Hospital, Indiana.
Visitation will be Monday, Sept. 23, at 10 a.m., with Mass following at 11 a.m., at St. John Catholic Church: 301 S. Cottage Grove Avenue, Glenwood, IL. Interment will be in Assumption Cemetery, Glenwood.
Mrs. Shomer was born Oct. 21, 1934, in Chicago. She was a retired bookkeeper, James Walker Manufacturing Co., Glenwood.
She is survived by three daughters, Barbara (Alfred) Moser of Park Forest, Theresa (Steven) Robinson of Beaverville, Patricia (Scott) Szymanek of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a son, Richard Jr. (Karen) of Lansing; one sister, Eleanor (Stewart) Cox of Brooksville, Florida; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren, and several beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard T. Shomer Sr., her parents Anna and Arthur R. Bonke Sr, her brother Arthur R.Bonke Jr, her daughter Virginia (Lawrence) Heard, her granddaughter Mary Rose Heard, and her grandson Christopher Szymanek.
Mary Ann was a kind and loving soul who adored spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed going to the theatre and playing bingo and board games. We will miss her laughter and her generous expression of love. We know she is rejoicing in her reunion with those she loved that have gone before her.
