Robert J. Kallas

Robert J. Kallas, age 80, of Calumet City, Illinois passed away December 20, 2017 at William J. Riley Memorial Residence. He is survived by his nephew Lawrence (Kathryn Ayala) Kallas; grand-nephew Michael; grand-niece Elena; cousins: Edward and Leonard Kallas; friend Chuck (Laura) Prucha; many cherished cousins and friends. Robert was preceded in death by his father George W. Sr.; mother Anna (nee Poloncak); brother George W. Jr. (Carol); niece Laura Kallas; nephew David Kallas; uncle John (Eleanore) Kallas; loving cousins: Jerome (Laureen) Pietranczyk, Joseph (Bernadine) DesCamp; friend Kevin Barker.

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 9:45 a.m. from Castle Hill Funeral Home: 248 155th Place, Calumet City, IL 60409 to St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial followed by a graveside Interment Service at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation Friday from 2-8 p.m. and Saturday from 8:45 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Robert honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1960-1962, achieving the rank of SP-4 and was stationed in West Berlin, Germany. He retired in 2003 from Hadady Corp, Lansing, IL after 29 years of service and had previously been employed at American Steel in Hammond. Robert was a charter member and longtime Treasurer of Club 30, Calumet City, IL. He was a longtime member and usher at St. Andrew the Apostle parish. He was a diehard Cubs fan, enjoyed fishing trips, mushroom picking, gardening, Polka music, St. Andrew picnics with family, and his weekly libations at the "Tombstone".
