Marilyn J. Abel

Marilyn J. Abel, age 83, of Lansing, Illinois passed away June 22, 2016.
Funeral services 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Castle Hill Funeral Home: 248 155th Place, Calumet City, IL 60409 followed by interment services at Elmwood Cemetery of Hammond, Indiana. Visitation also Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Four score and 3 years ago Marilyn made her debut. Being 13 years younger, she grew up fast and had many wonderful years with her beloved sister Pauline and brother Russell, who have preceded her in death. She worked as a food duplicator in an analytical lab and also put together medical school skeletons for General Biological Supply. Marilyn helped create food pantries for rural low income residents in Northern Indiana. She was a lover of old movies and all music and would talk about them for hours. Marilyn spent her free time out and about, making friends and just having a good time. She was proud to have cultivated friendships thru every generation. In regards to that, she always said, "Whether I go up or down...I'll be sure to know someone in either place".
Marilyn left behind her sense of friendship and humor in many friends that were so dear to her. There will certainly be many stories to be told.
Marilyn was thankful to have been surrounded by love and care. A warm thanks to her personal caregivers that have been with the family for years, Dr Wallace and staff at Ingalls, and the girls from Comfort Keepers who kept her in great company for these last months.
