GERALDINE "GERRY" BAZANT (nee Bajenski) 79 of Dyer, formerly Lansing and South Chicago passed away June 21, 2016. She is survived by her husband of more than 56 years, Richard; her 6 children: Janet (Tom Koontz,) Karen Bazant, Kevin Bazant, Rick (Jean Bielawski) Bazant, Kim (Frank Farkas Ret SPPD,) and Jim Bazant (Dyer PD,); 13 grandchildren: Jill and Jason Blauw, Joseph (Susan) Jericho and Jennifer Davitto, Jordan and Jadon Bazant, Ricky (Christina Brooks) Bazant, Allyssa (Justin Marino,) Emma and Aaron Farkas, Dylan and Caden Bazant; 5 great-grandchildren: Tyler Smith, Jaylen, Jaleah and Joslynn Davitto and Addison Marino; 1 great great-grandchild: Ryan Smith; brothers: Gene (Joan) Bajenski and Len (Late Chris) Bajenski Ret. CPD; sister-in-law Dolores "Tiny" (Late Bob) Huber. Preceded in death by her mother Marie Bajenski and brother and sister-in-law Robert and Millie Bajenski.

Funeral Services Monday, June 27, 2016 directly at St. Maria Goretti Church: 500 Northgate Drive Dyer, Indiana 46311 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment private. Family and friends will gather for a visitation on Sunday at Smits Funeral Home: 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, Indiana 46311 from 3-8 p.m. and Monday morning at the church from 10:00 until time of Mass.

Gerry was a longtime employee of RR Donnelly in Chicago, a past member of the Knights of Columbus Columbian Ladies, an involved parishioner, money counter and 50/50 raffle committee member at St. Maria Goretti Church, a longtime volunteer at Franciscan St. Margaret Hospital and a member of Dyer Senior Pinochle Club.

Above all these, Gerry was a cherished wife, loving mother, doting grandmother, impassioned great-grandmother and faithful great great-grandmother. She was a beloved aunt, cousin and friend to many. She will be greatly missed by the many lives she touched.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Food Pantries at St. Maria Goretti Church and St. Joseph's Church both in Dyer, St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Father Blaney Share Foundation in Rolling Prairie IN would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Castle Hill Funeral Home of Dyer, Indiana.
